This easy recipe came together after a few tries.  I am very excited to share this recipe with you today!

Store-bought healthy flavored coffee creamers can be pretty pricey that I have seen, so what a better way to save money then to make your own homemade coffee creamer!

The maple syrup variation is our personal favorite. (The picture above is the maple flavored version. You can see it has some darker color to it). Something about the additional flavor of the syrup and the sweetness it gives, is so delicious! I can’t quite explain it just right. I’ll just say it is VERY good!

I like to make this homemade hazelnut creamer recipe on Friday so I have a nice fresh batch for the weekend.

My husband is currently gone long days for work during the week so I sadly don’t see much of him. Weekends have become very special to us and we make a big deal of doing fun and meaningful things together for those short two days. One of those special things is sleeping as long as the baby lets us, (wink) and then a nice Saturday morning breakfast which includes some special type of coffee that we planned on.

Sometimes it is using coffee beans we save for special occasions, other times it is using this homemade coffee creamer or I’ll make Hazelnut Lattes. See the recipe here.

In case you are curious what we have for breakfasts on Saturday mornings, here are some of our favorites.

    • French toast with maple syrup, fruit topping and sausage
    • Crockpot baked oatmeal
    • Pancakes or waffles with maple syrup, fruit topping and sausage
    • Sourdough english muffin breakfast sandwhiches
    • Eggs, bacon and sourdough bread or bagels

As usual, I go for as nutritious and minimally processed foods as possible so most breakfast meals I make use homemade food items.

We make these breakfasts special since workday mornings are quick things, though they are still homemade.

Is homemade hazelnut coffee creamer healthy?

Homemade coffee creamers are indeed healthy as opposed to store bought creamers.

Take a look at this list below. Here are some of the many unnecessary ingredients found in store-bought coffee creamers. When you add conventional coffee creamers to your coffee, this is the (un)lovely stuff you’re consuming and feeding your body.

    • Natural and Artificial Flavors
    • Carrageenan
    • Mono- and Diglycerides
    • Cellulose Gel
    • Sugar
    • Cellulose Gum
    • Partially Hydrogenated Soybean and/or Cottonseed Oil
    • Sodium Caseinate (a Milk Derivative)
    • Disodium Phosphate

When you make your own homemade creamer you can be assured you are not consuming those awful unpronounceable ingredients that store-bought coffee creamers contain. This homemade hazelnut coffee creamer recipe can be used repeatedly and you can be assured you are not consuming nasty stuff when you enjoy it.

Ingredients for Homemade Hazelnut Coffee Creamer

    • whip cream (heavy cream)
    • milk (can replace with additional cream or milk of choice)
    • evaporated cane juice or other favorite sweetener
    • hazelnut extract

Optional -A pinch of salt can be added as well as 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract for additional flavor.

Dairy free options- milk and heavy cream with almond milk, oat milk, coconut milk, canned coconut cream etc.

You can make maple syrup hazelnut creamer by using less sweetener and adding maple syrup.

Feel free to experiment around with different flavors, though hazelnut is my personal fave and that’s why I made this recipe! Flavor variations would slightly affect the amount of sweetener used, but not much.
