Homemade Hazelnut Coffee Creamer (with optional maple syrup)

Making your own coffee creamer is an easy 5 minute project you can do once a week! Delicious, healthy and frugal!
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Servings: 15
Course: Drinks
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup milk (or additional cream)
  • 1/3-/1/2 cup evaporated cane juice or other preferred sweetener
  • 1/4 teaspoons hazelnut extract (taste first then adjust the amount if it needs more flavor) -depending on the extract you use, it can be really strong!
  • cup maple syrup
  • optional tiny pinch salt and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Method

  1. Combine milk and sweetener in a small pot (Use less- about 3 tablespoons of the sweetener if you will be adding maple syrup)
  2. Heat slowly for about 10 minutes stirring often. The purpose of this is only to dissolve the sweetener
  3. Remove from heat and pour into a jar or other storage bottle
  4. Add the cream, hazelnut extract and maple syrup if using. (Hazelnut extract can be strong! Don't use too much! Start with less and add more as you prefer.)
  5. Add optional salt and vanilla
  6. Shake well and store in the fridge

Notes

This will last about a week in the fridge.
Hazelnut extract that I use  - it is a very strong kind- start with less and add more!
